Could you be our next Fireworks volunteer?

Fireworks runs entirely on the commitment of volunteers. If you have time, skills, and a passion for supporting young people's mental health — we'd love to hear from you.

School Session Volunteer

The core volunteer role at Fireworks is delivering sessions in schools alongside Katy. You'd be visiting at least one school per week, spending one to two hours in a small-group session with children.

Commitment

At least one school visit per week, for one to two hours. Half term or full academic year bookings available.

Training & support

Full training is provided. You won't be left to figure it out alone — Katy and the team are with you throughout.

Who it suits

Anyone with a genuine interest in children's wellbeing. Experience with children is helpful but not essential — enthusiasm and warmth matter most.

What you'd be doing

  • Supporting Katy in delivering singing, signing and mindfulness sessions
  • Working with small groups of 6–8 children
  • Building relationships with children over a half term or full year
  • Helping create a safe, consistent group space
  • Making a real, measurable difference to children's confidence

Other ways to volunteer

Trustee

Help govern and guide the charity's direction. Especially useful if you have experience in law, finance, HR, healthcare, or leadership.

Fundraising

Help plan and run fundraising activities — events, campaigns, grant applications. Experience in fundraising or events management is a bonus.

Website Development

Help maintain and improve the charity's web presence. If you're a developer or designer with time to give, we'd love to hear from you.

Child Mental Health

If you have professional or lived experience in child mental health, counselling, or SEND, your insight would be genuinely valuable to our work.

Sign Language

BSL or Makaton proficiency is highly valued. We use sign language in every school session and are always looking to strengthen this part of the programme.

Mindfulness

Trained or experienced in mindfulness practice? We'd welcome someone who can contribute to the mindfulness element of our sessions.
